A tiny chicken
— JH
A student gave this to me as a thank you when I was going through a really stressful time. It gave me such a sense of relief and made me feel appreciated when I needed it most.
To take a step back when I’m stressed. There is always someone there who appreciates the work you are doing.
Let go
This memory has been let go
The object is gone — the memory of it remains on the shelf.
“Because it’s clutter! It may be tiny but I don’t need it to remember I am appreciated.”
Questions to sit with
What happened to you around this object?
What does keeping it protect you from — or connect you to?
If you let it go, what would you lose? What might you gain?
Whose memory is this, really?
These prompts follow Ian Porter's approach — compassionate curiosity, asking “what happened to you?” rather than “what's wrong with you?”.
